The Government Ruined Phone Sex – A Poem About The Government, and the Privy
Monday, June 10th, 2013Talk to me, baby
It’s OK
“I can’t go on this way.”
She says to me
My paramour
My dream lover
My home
“I’ll love you forever,” I whisper into the receiver
And the signal shoots off I hope to kiss her on the ear
Closing the space between as if we were a single breath apart
“Oh you know how I feel about words like forever, especially when…”
“When what, baby?”
I can feel them in the walls she thinks
They’re waiting for me to say the words
I protest
I believe in this
And you cannot possibly be serious about that
Just to be on the safe side,
Send a patrol car over to Elm Street we’ve got a report of some bad words
“If men cease to believe that they will one day become gods then they will surely become worms*”
But who knows?
All I know is
The government ruined phone sex
You can always wake up in a moment of complete captivation
To see the suit behind the wires
Polishing his rocket
